At our September meeting, we’ll be hearing from Patrick Shǐ Timmer, the Living Wage Foundation‘s Sussex & South East Programme Officer. He’ll be speaking about the real Living Wage and its importance, as well as the Foundation’s Living Wage, Living Hours, and Living Pension accreditations. In particular, he’ll be touching on their business and societal benefits of these schemes. His presentation will be followed by time for questions and a collective discussion.
The Living Wage Foundation is a national organisation bringing together employers, people and communities across the UK to shape work that works for everyone. It oversees the calculation of the real Living Wage (currently £12.60 across the UK), which is the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the real cost of living. In addition, the Foundation awards the Living Wage, Living Hours, and Living Pension accreditations to employers who meet its voluntary benchmarks for wages, working hours, and pensions, respectively, lifting working standards in sectors and regions across the country.
